Federal Judges Order Release of Epstein Grand Jury Documents

Three federal judges have ordered the unsealing of investigative and court documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, citing the newly enacted Epstein Files Transparency Act that mandates release by December 19, 2025.

A Manhattan federal judge approved the unsealing of grand jury documents from the 2019 investigation into accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, becoming the third judge to grant such requests following similar orders for Ghislaine Maxwell's records and materials from Florida.

Judge Richard M. Berman based the decision on the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which requires the Justice Department to release all related records in searchable format by December 19, 2025, with appropriate redactions to protect victims' identities. Representative Ro Khanna, a co-sponsor of the transparency legislation, called the ruling a sign that "American democracy is still working," while legal experts and investigative reporters anticipate the documents may provide significant new insights into how federal prosecutors investigated Epstein's alleged network of criminal activity, though it remains unclear how much information will be previously unreleased.
